I'm excited to share a new tool I've built: FreeCaptions.org.

It's a completely free website designed to help you add 'viral-style' captions to your videos, just like the ones you see on TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Instagram Reels.

Why I Built It

I was surprised by how many tools were charging for this simple functionality. I believe adding captions to make your content more accessible and engaging should be free and easy for everyone. So, I built a tool that is:

One of the most important aspects of FreeCaptions.org is that it is Privacy First. All processing is done locally on your device. Your videos are NOT sent to a server. This is possible thanks to running the AI model directly in your browser.

Viral Caption Styles

Choose from a variety of modern, animated styles that are proven to increase watch time and engagement. You can create styles with three words, colored active-words, and more.

99 Languages Supported

The tool supports transcription in 99 languages, including English, Spanish, French, German, Mandarin Chinese, Hindi, Japanese, Arabic, Portuguese, Russian, and Italian. It also offers Automatic Translation to English with just one click.

How It Works

  1. Upload Your Video: Select your video file.
  2. Get Captions: The AI (Whisper model) automatically generates captions with near-perfect accuracy.
  3. Customize: Adjust the style, position, colors, fonts, and even change styles mid-video.
  4. Process: The video is processed locally, adding the captions directly to your video. You can download the resulting video, and optionally download the caption files (.srt, .vtt).
